What Makes Our Sardines Different
Based in Fremantle, we catch two sardine species. Sardinops sagax, our cold-water sardine, which is comparable to the European sardine and also Sardinella lemuru, a warm-water sardine known as “Scalies”, which migrate south from our far Northern waters via the Leeuwin Current. We are the only boat in Australia catching Scalies.
Both of these species are caught in various sizes.
Because we catch two species, we are the only fishery in Australia that can fish all year around, Making us a good consistent supplier.
All sardines are caught very close to our Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour then immediately placed into ice slurry, ensuring exceptional freshness, food-grade quality,
